Although this article raises very good points for not allowing students to have computers with internet access, I think having the ability to use technology in the classroom provides great learning opportunities. I do not think that students need to be or should be using laptops every single day in class, but we have learned about many different programs this semester that can enhance student learning and engagement. Therefore, if laptops are available, ground rules need to be established to prevent students from procrastinating or just surfing the web. I think if students learn different ways to use the internet in instead of just for social networking or entertainment during school, they may use it for more productive purposes at home.
I am probably a good person but I haven't taken the time to fill out my profile, so you'll never know! |
