Pretjerano praćenje (uhođenje) korisnika na društvenim mrežama nije potpuno moralan čin. Pretjeranim uhođenjem teško se narušava privatnost uhođene osobe. Takav čin, u slučaju "razotkrivenja" uhoditelja često može dovesti do razmirica između uhoditelja i uhođenog korisnika.

Uzmimo situaciju nestanka ljudi. Recimo da je osoba nestala, potrebno je policiji prijaviti nestanak. Ukoliko je nestala osoba bila praćena (uhođena) od strane "pratitelja, "pratitelj" može posjedovati korisne informacije i te iste predati policiji u svrhu pomoći oko rješenja slučaja, odnosno pronalaska nestale osobe.
