Kuwait was unwilling to waive the debts that Iraq had borrowed from the Iraq-Iran war. Before the Iraq-Kuwait conflict took place, Iraq had a war with Iran, fighting against the Iranian government ideology that wanted the Middle East to be a Muslim region. During this war, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait had lent Iraq money for them to fight Iran. However, after the war ended, Iraq was left with a devastated economy. Originally, Kuwait refused to waive the war debt Iraq had taken from them, which left Iraq's economy in a poor state. Although they did waive the debts later on, Iraq's economy was so poor then that Iraq had to turn to the invasion of Kuwait in order to gain resources to sustain her economy. Hence, Kuwait was to be blamed for the conflict as Kuwait had originally refused to waive off the debts Iraq had taken for the Iraq-Iran war.

Ragul Balaji (Prosecution Attorney)

I accuse Harry S. Truman guilty of:

-Murder

-Extermination

On August 6, 1945 and August 9, 1945 the United States of America authorized the use of atomic weaponry against the Empire of Japan during World War II. This decision killed many thousands of civilians in Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The International Criminal Court would classify these acts as Crimes Against Humanity due to the unnecessary use of force against civilians this represented. Also, The Tokyo District Court ruled that,

“(b) that the dropping of atomic bombs as an act of hostilities was illegal under the rules of positive international law (taking both treaty law and customary law into consideration) then in force... (c) that the dropping of atomic bombs also constituted a wrongful act on the plane of municipal law, ascribable to the United States and its President, Mr. Harry S. Truman; ...The aerial bombardment with atomic bombs of the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was an illegal act of hostilities according to the rules of international law. It must be regarded as indiscriminate aerial bombardment of undefended cities, even if it were directed at military objectives only, inasmuch as it resulted in damage comparable to that caused by indiscriminate bombardment.”

Within the first two to four months of the bombings, the acute effects killed 90,000– 166,000 people in Hiroshima and 60,000–80,000 in Nagasaki, with roughly half of the deaths in each city occurring on the first day. The Hiroshima prefectural health department estimates that, of the people who died on the day of the explosion, 60% died from flash or flame burns, 30% from falling debris and 10% from other causes. During the following months, large numbers died from the effect of burns, radiation sickness, and other injuries, compounded by illness. In a US estimate of the total immediate and short term cause of death, 15–20% died from radiation sickness, 20–30% from flash burns, and 50–60% from other injuries, compounded by illness. In both cities, most of the dead were civilians. Former President Harry S. Truman stands accused of these crimes because it was his decision to authorize the use of these two bombs and the deaths of so many innocents lay on his hands. The charges against him stand as follows.

- Article 7(1)(a): Murder

- Article 7(1)(b): Extermination
