Although it is a person's choice, it should provably wait until 25. This is because a person's brain, specifically their prefrontal cortex, or decision making control center, usually continues to develop until then. Then they would be able to consider all the options and choose if they really want to do something or not.

Living in a controlling and harsh environment actually makes children more subservient and on average less successful than children who lived in a warm and permissive household.

Actually a study done by a male professor showed that women are now scoring over a full IQ point higher than men. Men and women have equally contributed to history, but women are pushed into the background. In addition, much of the stereotypical behavior exhibited by women today are due to the stereotypes themselves that society has forced onto them. Also women are not just the "sack" to hold the child. They provide the egg. Please stop basing your arguments on personal experience.

❤️Brian Greene's writing. Read the Hidden Reality to fully understand the answer.

If you were the father...good luck to you, my good sir, with finding someone who can put up with your demeaning sexist views.

While free speech is a right, you should politely consider other's opinions.

Debate is supposed to be cordial. Anyways, women discovered radioactivity, the structure of DNA (Watson and crick technically stole information), the composition of the sun, abstract algebra, the modern electric refrigerator, wireless communication, CCTVs, and computer programs.

I think that gender is completely irrelevant in elections. Only the qualifications of the candidates should matter, which unfortunately is not the case.

PMS is cause because of hormones. Men hav more testosterone. Matter settled. Moving on, it's actually proven that men candidates with the exact same resume and speech are more attractive to voters than women because of societal sexism. There was an entire TIMES article on it.

Actually, a bigger brain is not indicative of higher intelligence, or elephants would be smarter than us. It's the body's to brain ratio and the number of neurons. For example, Albert Einstein's brain was smaller and lighter than normal. Studies show that teachers, regardless of their own gender, actually favor boys more than girls.

Like being pregnant is fun. I'd argue that men need women for kids, because in the past, men were usually the ones who forced women to bear children.

Although I'm on the same side, that's a kind of useless argument

Actually, guys are encouraged to try new stuff by society. Girls have more guts than guys - they had to do things that were not only unprecedented but also when everyone else was against them. Example - literally all pre-1900s women scientists, diplomats, pirates, etc.

Yes. People vote for men because they are sexistly predisposed to. Look up some studies on it. It's quite interesting and also enraging at the same time.

Well, according to you, girls are stupid and their arguments are invalid. Following that logic, you, as a girl, are therefore idiotic and your arguments that boys rule are also invalid. Beaten at your own game.

Besides the biological ones (by the way, in nature, females take care of the children), it's sort of sexist to relegate roles to each gender, and it limits them to what they can do.

This truely makes me wonder if I've somehow time traveled back to the 1800s

Admittedly, this is a convoluted question with many answer. Personally, I believe that it depends on the student. As we are all a mosaic of female and male characteristics, some may fit better in single gender schools than others. However, the pros and cons are the same for the average student. For one thing, students in single gender schools often have trouble dealing with the opposite gender after graduating. In addition, the absence of an entire gender can lead to a lack of perspective in the classroom. On the other hand, some studies show that because girls and boys can have different learning needs, they benefit from single gender schools, especially girls, who are often disadvantaged in coed schools. For example, 20% more girls in single gender schools chose STEM majors than those in coed.

Notice that many girls use facts to make their case. Most of the boys on the other side use sheer experience and hubris. They arrogantly phrase their arguments to sound condescending. In addition, the few statistics they use are outdated.

1 point

So you regard girls as stupid and laughable? Pray tell how you expect to ever attract a girl, or even if you don't want to have a girlfriend, how you plan to be friends with girls or even get along with you mother.

Actually, once sperm is artificially reproduced, we won't need men. Howeve, artificial wombs cannot replace the need for women any time soon.

1 point

Did you notice what you said? You said men, but didn't say women in the same sentence as their counterparts. This is actually very common, and it shows that you subconsciously think that men are more grown up than women. Again, small sexist acts.

Actually, teachers, regardless of whether they male or female, have been shown in studies to favor male students over female ones. Likewise, parents, even mothers, are more likely to search whether their son is gifted than whether their daughter is gifted, even if the two children are equally matched. In fact, in many regions of the world, women want sons more than they want a girl. This proves that not all females favor their gender more than the male gender, as our dear friend 123456789101 has shown us, usually because they have been sadly conditioned to think that they are worthless.

100% agreement. One caveat: although women and men are definitely equal, it is also definitely unfair that men get considerably more opportunities and attention than women.

Please stop. I'm so sick of explaining that women have made just as many, if not more, ground breaking discoveries than men. They just never get credit or have their ideas stolen because the law and society never considered them important. Women work harder to get the same level of achievement as men. Even if they have the same resume as a man, they have less of a chance of getting the job. This is even more incredible when you consider that many women couldn't go to university and just get their education, unlike men. They had to work for it and never got the recognition they deserved. Of course we have a right to complain. If you want us to stop, help us break the glass ceiling, which is the reason not enough women are CEOs, etc. It's not for lack of talent, but because the ruling elite, i.e., men, are reluctant to let go of their power. Sexism does have negative effects on men, I'll admit. But stop complaining about those. You caused it, so fix it.

All mostly sexist. How about Clinton, Roosevelt, Agnocene, Khutulun, Noether, Irene Joliot Curie, Marie Curie, Lisa Meitner, Hau, Wu Zeitian, Elizabeth and Mary Tudor, Pizan, Margaret of Austria, Louise of Savoy, and countless others? Their achievements are equal to or more important than the men that you mentioned, but they don't get any credit for being women.

1 point

Sexist and demeaning. Fix your attitude. Stereotype much? There's a reason for everything. Consider why many girls are like that. Could it be because society is constantly telling them all they should be is pretty? Environment shapes you. Take a look at an environment where girls are told they can be smart, confident, and amazing. You will find that they are smart, confident, and amazing. They realize that they don't need the approval of callous airheads like you to change the world. Also, I dare you to forward your post to your mother.

Wow. The simplicity of this experience based argument lacking any sort of evidence is genius. Just genius. Here is a stellar example of the point I am trying to make. Boys, and males, by extensions, are often so confident of their superiority, when they don't even have a reason to back their claim up. There's a little thing called science and logic, people. The rampant sexism here is stunning. It's sad that we even have to have this debate in the 21st century.

At this age, boys are actually weaker, smaller, and slower. But if you want to go into women vs. men, I'll happily destroy your arguments on that turf too. Women were not allowed to go to war. Men never ad to fight for their rights. They were the ones in charge. Not because they were better, but because they were more physically intimidating. You forget Emmeline Pankhurst and countless others like her. Read up on your history. Women have constantly told they must be subservient and pretty. They had no choice but to conform. Are you really going to blame them for adapting to a culture that in some cases would burn them alive for not doing so, or are you going to use your head and blame the society that made them that way? Women change the world, too. They just don't get credit for it. Men think they can just take credit for women's inventions, and sadly, they're right. Case in point: Rosalind Franklin, Louise of Savoy, etc. In fact, behind every powerful man in history, there is almost always a powerful woman. Not the case for famous women. Stop attempting to put constraints on a woman's behavior and insulting her. You're just trying to put out her light because it scares you. You'll see that light is impossible to stop. Unless, you're Lene Hau, of course, who was a woman.

First of all, I invite readers to take a closer look at the exact wording of this resolution: it compares boys and girls, which are most commonly defined as adolescents. This is a debate comparing girls and boys only, not men and women, or males and females in general. This is important, as you will see later on.

Although in my first paragraph, I stated that this debate is about solely boys and girls, I want to point out this little fact: males are, in fact, not the most important, or superior sex. While artificial wombs have been invented, the creators themselves acknowledge that said inventions are in no way a replacement for a mother’s uterus, just a last-ditch attempt to save a premature baby’s life. Therefore, females are entirely necessary to the reproduction of the humans species. Males, on the other hand, are needed just for their sperm and DNA copies. However, scientists are rapidly making progress towards creating fully developed sperm cells in a lab, at which point the entire male gender will be rendered entirely useless to the sole biological purpose of the species Homo sapiens: reproduction. Here’s another fun fact: in some species, like certain lizards, females have learned to self fertilize, and thus there is no need for the males, who die out.

Many on the other side of this debate claim that males are, somehow, more intelligent than females. The only study of note that supports this completely ridiculous claim is a study done by Irving and Flynn, an Ulster academic who previously claimed that African Americans were less intelligent than whites. This study is extremely outdated, and has been attacked by the rest of the scientific community in the prestigious Nature journal. This study actually compares men and women, not girls and boys, and should then be irrelevant to this debate. However, I will delightedly tear down its credibility shred by shred. There are numerous flaws with this study, one being that they selectively picked IQ studies. For example, Irving and Flynn chose to ignore a massive study done in Mexico that concluded there was no real difference between men and women. Although the authors claimed this was an outlier study, in reality, it just reflects what the vast majority of other studies done by unbiased psychologists who are not racist or incredibly sexist. In addition, when height is compensated for (some studies claim that taller people are usually smarter), women average out to be smarter than men. Finally, according to the laws of natural selection, if men produce more geniuses, they also produce many more idiots and morons. My opponent offers no credibility whatsoever for his source, which was a fatal mistake, especially given that more recent studies, most notably by Professor James Flynn, prove that internationally, women have closed the IQ gap and are now scoring almost a full point higher (101.5) than men, who rank at just around 100. But why are we talking about men and women? Wasn’t this debate about boys and girls? Yes, and if you look at the numbers, girls have much higher IQs than boys during adolescence. But my opponents might argue that’s because girls mature faster than boys. Of course that’s the reason, but, really, no matter the cause, the fact remains the same: girls are simply more intelligent than boys. This is particularly amazing if you consider that girls are consistently told they are less smart than boys. By the age of 6, an overwhelming majority of girls believe that they are less capable in subjects like math and science than boys, even though they are more capable. Girls only achieve higher grades because the education system is geared towards them? Please. Studies show that teachers are more likely to call on boys than girls, more likely to judge a student by what they wear if they’re female, and that parents are more often going to search whether their son is gifted, rather than their daughter. Females have been told for so long, almost the entire existence of civilization, that they are dumb, stupid, and air-headed. The word hysterical, which implies crazy and insane, was derived from the Greek word from uterus! Girls have the ability to achieve grades far superior to those of their male counterparts after being oppressed for thousands of years. Stop making excuses, boys. Those are for the mentally weak and unstable.

Speakin of weak and strong, although boys, and men in general, are physically more capable than girls and women, this doesn’t necessarily mean anything. The two things strength is most often used for are fighting and lifting heavy objects, like a plough. Just because boys are genetically blessed to be stronger does not mean they are better. Girls, for example, are more communicative and social, using almost three times more words than boys per day. In addition, what’s the point of being stronger if most things don’t require heavy lifting? The most strength people use nowadays is when they pick up their Amazon order. For really heavy lifting, there’re machines to do that now. Also, keep in mind that because males hit puberty later than girls, boys are often weaker than girls, as their body hasn’t grown yet. So at this stage in life, females are not only smarter, but also stronger than males. Even past adulthood, women can be stronger than men. Just look at Catherine Brumbach, for example, who beat the the strongest man in the world at the time, and was an undefeated wrestler (at least as far as I know).

Boys also like to brag that their sex has contributed the most to human society, especially in science. Ever think that’s because men disregarded the discoveries of women and basically ignored the scientific contributions of half of the population. In many cases, women and men were equally influential in key discoveries, but the men took the credit and overshadowed the women, simply because of their gender. Discovery of DNA’s structure, which led to an understanding and curing of cancer for millions? Boys’ answer: Watson and Crick’s work. The right answer: all (illegally, may I add) based off of the work of Rosalind Franklin, whose essential (and when I say essential, I mean essential: they wouldn’t have pieced it together without the photo) Photo 51 without even asking permission. Franklin was also the one who corrected their chemically atrocious first “draft” of the structure. Radiation therapy, nuclear power, and X-rays? Not possible without Marie Curie, Lisa Meitner, and Maria Mayer. Early computer? The work of Ada Lovelace and Grace Hopper. Abstract algebra would not exist if not for Emmy Noether, pulsars would not have been discovered if not for Jocelyn Burnell. The famous Hubble picture you use in science class are not blurry and smeared, thanks to the work of Sandra Faber. Lene Hau, who has opened an entirely new door for quantum computing and physics, managed to stop light completely. If you’ve ever visited the doctor’s, thank Florence Nightingale and Mary Seattle for the standard of care. Chien Shiung Wu was known as the leading experimental physicist of all time, who disproved a bloody “law” of nature! The NASA rocket launch required women like Katherine Johnson and Mary Jackson. Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin is the reason you learned that the sun is made of helium and hydrogen gas, something she proved in her thesis, also known as “the most brilliant PhD thesis ever written in astronomy.” And that’s just in science. If I listed to you all of the women who fundamentally changed the course of the world throughout time, the list would go on for hundreds of pages. The only reasons people mistakenly think men have invented all of the important innovations is because history has relegated the women to the sidelines. Both men and women contributed equally on the invention of computers, of nuclear fission, electricity, quantum physics, new insights into biology, and beyond. In historical terms, for example orchestrated the Ladies' Peace, the death of Cyrus the Great, and countless other events. And all while being oppressed. Most of these brilliant women did all of their learning in secret and went on to change the world. So why do the men get all of the credit?

People also say that women and girls complain too much. Ask yourself this: if you have to worry every time you go to a debate about the pitch of your voice, if you have to obsess about keeping a spotless reputation and what people think of your clothes, if you have to constantly remind yourself to cover up at night, if you know you belong to the sex who make up 96% of all self harmers, if you have to work twice as hard to get ahead in life as a boy, if you have to sit and watch as a boy steals your idea and gets the credit for it, if you have to give up all hopes of a family in order for a promotion, if you are expected to never be anything more than a child factory and a washing machine, if you are constantly told that you should be prettier, talk softer, be less aggressive and intelligent, if you are sent messages every waking second by society that you will always be seen as lesser, weaker, and stupider, why wouldn’t you complain? It may seem like these are trivial things, and they are. But when you’re being bombarded by these ideas 24/7, they add up. The fact that many of my opponents mistakenly believe that all major accomplishments were the work of men is only a living testament to the fact of a) how stupid they are to take their sexist textbooks at face value, and b) that women are still not getting the attention they deserve for everything they've done. If anything, the world would be much better off today if women had run the world in the past.
