Is drinking coffee good?

Yes

Side Score: 8
VS.

No

Side Score: 6

The answer to this debate is yes and no. I think Good and Bad is a two sided coin. When there is good, there is bad. And vice versa.

Like the school shooting. The bad that people consider was the death of those teachers and kids. However, the good can be the introduction to gun safety laws that help prevent society more from another attack or any attack.

If you are religious, you can say that God is only pure good and Satan is only pure bad. .... Like a monopole. (Physics II Calculus) YEAAHHH! Kinda proud that i commented on something about Physics II :)...tough subject. And also, i made a connection to physics to religion :O

I am not saying using "good" to refer to an overpowering "good" that is above all else the trump of another argument. If you are allergic to coffee, if you are a Columbian (basically) slave, a small farmer who is getting crushed economically by the IMF, World Bank, etc, then I empathize and coffee is not such a "good" thing.

Anyway...on a common day to day level coffee in moderation is a great thing.

1) It leads to productivity:

a) Our country was built on coffee cattle drivers, farmers, construction workers, and so forth all relied on coffee to build up railroads, buildings, and agriculture.

Furthermore, our country/countries are still built on coffee: the student, the lawyer, the engineer all use coffee.

b) Its side effects are not that many other alternatives. Yes, healthy living, exercise, and general wellbeing are all great sources of "natural" energy. However, the pragmatic approach would be that it simply gets the job done without massive side effects. In a highly complex industrial society we often do not have time to plan a perfect schedule, therefore a quick alternative should not be discounted.

c)The aroma and taste has been shown to be psychologically comforting. If one has good, well roasted coffee they have the confort that puts them, simply, in a good mood. If we follow from the premises above then there should be not side effect.

d)Many nutritionists agree that moderate amounts of caffeine are good for your health. I have read many running and jogging articles that encourage a good jolt of caffeine before you work out.

Side: Yes

IT keeps you awake when you need to which is good.

Side: Yes

It spoils your teeth and has a lot of caffeine which may hurt your body in the long run. Nowadays, people usually have creamers or sugars which may do further damage to the body

1. Spoils your teeth

It wont spoil you teeth if you don' drink too much

2. Has a lot of caffeine which may hurt your body in the long run

Some coffees dont contain many amounts of caffeine. This caffeine is also needed by your body in order to do certain things like work. You get tired easily if you dont drink coffee. It stimulates your body in order to do work.

Yeah, I agree with your point about the creamers and sugars.

What if some people like children at the at of 7 probably have the habit of drinking coffee. But unfortunately, they also have the habit of not brushing their teeth. I would say that I do not agree with you in your first point. However, in the second point you may be right. But what if children also drinks large amounts of coffee at night, they will not be able to sleep. Thus the next day feeling tired or other problems

No its not good at all because caffeine only is a temporary energy booster and later on you will result in a crash because your body lacks the caffeine and your body tells you that it wants more energy. And if you continue to drink it, it can cause dehydration and you will feel exhausted and you will start getting shivers because your body is telling you to stop.

I would recommend eating apples because those have natural energy when you eat it and you will feel awake and also eating things with protein like peanut butter and eggs can help you have that energy you need to keep yourself awake.

This is assuming that you 1) not accustom to caffeine 2) you are not eating, and/or exercising. It is not if myself, or any other person I know drinks one, two, or even three cups of coffee in the morning and crashes. Yes, there is the evening slump, and yes there are those that feel that they must have caffeine all day long. However, for many parts of the population there are those that drink coffee for a boost in the morning and can continue with normal cognition all day long.

Going back to my first point, if you are not accustom to caffeine, then yes, you will jitter, crave, and dehydrate. But just like booze, caffeine must be in the hands of those that know what they are doing.

Also, this was a post about coffee not caffeine. If it where about caffeine, then I would bring up all the examples in which caffeine does not create the symptoms that you are describing. You may want to narrow your definitions to the topic at hand.

Coffee is not a temporary energy booster. In fact, it is the amount of caffeine your body absorbed or can absorb. A little lost of energy will not affect your body much crash. Eating apples is not the only way to get the vitamins. Grapes, oranges, lemons, kiwi fruit all have nutritional value based on their skin color.

It certainly is not. I haven't drank it for ten years or so.

some results or researches have proved that coffee is not much good for health. Not only coffee, all the beverages are to some extent not good for health.

Side: No

I too agree with you in this point. Little may boost your energy while drinking too much may harm you. Just like beer or wine. Drinking occasionally may harm your body unlike if you drink once in awhile it would be fine to most people
