Not saying it can't or hasn't been good, but the way our global monetary system is set up right now isn't fair. It's essentially legalized fraud, so I will go ahead and say it's bad.

here's a relevant video

True, money is the sole reason why 'fake' baby milk was produced in China regardless of the consequences-

The lives of innocent newborns.

Not inherently.

But the way it is currently being used, created, and distributed has a detrimental effect on the society and species as a whole.

Some notable examples include:

1. Fed. Reserve creating money without any standard to base it on.

2. Businesses using money as bribes to law makers.

3. Governments taxing the population to pay for an excessive military budget.

4. Populations of wealthy countries spending money on superfluous crap, 90% of which ends up in the trash within 6 months.

5. Governments sending financial aid to impoverished countries in the form of building contracts to their own construction companies while the people in the impoverished nations are stuck holding a debt which is used as leverage to exploit them for whatever the wealthy nation wants (resources at a cheap price, troops in support of a war, agreed terms in an upcoming UN ballot, etc.).

In today's society you need money so why would it be bad?

needing something doesn't necessarily make it good either.

Money isn't a bad, wants are. Some people find want to be more important than moral and others. Wants like these is the real thing that causes corruption and crime, not money. Business men don't sell out because they want money. They want a fancy house, car, ect. Criminals don't kill people for money, they do it to buy things too. Wants are the problem, not money.

First of all, comparing a corporate "sellout" to a cold-blooded murderer is downright egregious.

You say criminals kill people not for the contents of their wallet, but for what those contents will eventually allow them to buy. I wouldn't give a street thug so much credit as to say that he's an adept rational thinker, but I do think he's smart enough to know that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line.

I don't know what's considered a luxury for someone like this, but I have to assume that he's not rampaging along in twenty-something dollar increments so he can make a down payment on a house. I think it's fair to say that whatever is fanning his homicidal flame is something that can be carried fairly easily. But then why doesn't he simply cut out, and stop cutting up, the middle man and simply steal what he wants? Certainly, this can't be a man who can take another life but is morally opposed to a little larceny.

I agree completely that greed -- "wants" as you call it -- leads people to do atrocious things, but it's quite brazen to suggest that money isn't to blame for fostering such a mindset.

I guess I could have thought a little further into the crime thing. Also, Rubbery, in my statement, I did not compare crime and corporations. Just because they were both in my statement doesn't mean I think them to be the same thing. Further more, I'm not very against corporations. How I see it, most people don't like money don't like corporations ether , so I included it to the statement. I believe it will convince more people in my believes.

It's not bad, but it's bullshit that it is based upon the market other then gold and/or silver.

Who believes money is bad?

First of all, who can say hands on heart that they have never had a desire for/ wished that they had just a little more....money?

In reality; money cannot be abandoned; it is a global agreement and it is essential - true.

Furthermore, should money be stigmatised? Is it really the sole source of greed or perhaps evil?

I think not. Bad is very ambiguous, but in this sense it covers more than greed/ evil Money is what we give in exchange to each other, something we all own, this does not make us evil therefore it is not bad either. Could you say the Olympics was bad because of the investments and jobs that it created and inspiration that influenced generations which boils down to MONEY. Is it because there is disdain for recent true sexual allegations surrounding powerful people with money and that people with more MONEY are naturally power- thirsty?

My final conclusion: a gun can be used to protect and it and to murder- that doesn't mean it is bad. Money is yet again another object, what matters is our attitude towards money. Anyone and everyone handles money- the only reason why it could be called 'bad' is if the person who owns it or desires it chooses to violate their moral integrity ( prostitution) in order to obtain it.
