Privatize NASA

I have never really had a problem using tax dollars to fund something that society as a whole can benefit from: roads, schools, hospitals, bridges, etc. I support cancer research, gene studies, things that actually benefit society. I've never really seen the public benefit of spending billions of dollars travelling to the moon or travelling to mars ----assuming they didn't film the whole damn thing on the sand dunes of Monhollen Drive. It just seems like a very expensive waste.  Now, if they took their operations private and found their own damn funding, I wouldn't mind.

As much as I've always loved the idea of throwing money at scientific research, I find it's best left in the unregulated hands of the free market. People with mutual interests in exploring space will be able to fund the project, given they aren't restricted by the government, of course.

I have been reading over your replies to people and just wanted to let you know, it works.

I find your thinking to be very unbiased and see no signs of ignorant prejudice in your thinking yet the symbol still bothers me. That is the reaction your are looking for? Symbol only means what you want it to mean?

The avatar is supposed to be whatever one wants it to be.

I am concerned over arguments, not random symbols that do nothing but create emotional reactions.

The benefit? Are you joking?

Do you know why half the electronics you are using right now work? From microwaves to computers to gravity to thermodynamics, flight and air, food and energy, innovations in space travel have been very useful in developing this technology.

Now, I'm not against privatized space. It's big enough that right now, every single person could own their own star. And there'd still be a lot left over!

But I don't think we should remove government money from helping to pay for space. 20 billion a year is far less than nearly every other section of government, and with the last Mars probe, Curiosity costing only 2.5 billion dollars, a VERY small amount when in comes to government stuff, there is really no reason to stop. It creates jobs and gives people hope and scratches the itch, that craving for adventure to new lands.

Wow, good point. It's excellent that you didn't understand the point of my argument or make the connection that understanding how the universe works aids in electronics and other parts of life.

No way, bro

I dont believe that it is required for such a thing to happen. Besides, they have so much money from the government
