One of my old teachers wanted Ryan pardoned in 2003 for declaring a moratorium on the death penalty soon after being indicted. She was all like, "he's so courageous", and I (who was interviewing her for the school paper) was like, doing something controversial on your way out of a tarnished career right before going to prison isn't courageous - it's the same psychology as the crazy guy who, instead of killing himself quietly, decides to shoot a bunch of people from a belltower first.

Of course not. I dont see any reason to pardon Gov. Ryan.

Yes or No would have been appropriate... or maybe "Why should he or Why not" would have been better.

but i can see how bias it was set.

Of course it is biased. Who in their right mind would actually like to see this guy pardoned after the misery and pain he caused that family?

I think what he means is that at least in the description and title and sides you should try to be neutral and then show your biasm in your arguments. That way people are more opt to want to come and argue for both sides, rather than see how leaning to the left this one is and just ignore it. You know what I mean?

By pardoning George Ryan or even commuting his prison sentence, you are making it loud and clear that it is acceptable for politicians to be corrupt. If politicians commit a crime, they need to be held accountable for it just like anyone else would. I know that people who support a pardon or a commutation will state Ryan's family is suffering, but many other families are also suffering because they're loved ones are behind bars. Their loved ones don't receive pardons and since Ryan is not above the law, he doesn't deserve a pardon.
