I started drinking, not heavily I never got drunk, at a young age because my mom let me (were from Europe) and now I have not only the sense and experience to know when enough is enough, but also I don't really want to. The fantasy that children have with drinking is broken if parents allow it and they know it's actually not that great or worth it. Side: BRING IT DOWN!!

Bring it down, for fucks sake. Having to be 21 is ridiculous, its beyond ridiculous its fucked up.Its 18 in my country and thats still far too old its ridiculous. Kids should be allowed drink from a very early age (~10) as long as there monitored by their parents i.e. glass of wine with their dinner a bottle beer with their dad when the match is on etc. etc. Then they can be thought to be responsible. Used to be 18 in NY, then 19, then 21. This is during the draft (the selective service is still in effect) There was a poster in the bar saying, "I'm required to die for my country - but I can't get a beer?!?!?" Side: BRING IT DOWN!!

I think it's funny how in the U.S. at age 20 you can't have any alcohol and at 21 you can have as much as you want. The very nature of this law actually encourages irresponsible drinking. If youth's first experience with alcohol is unsupervised binge drinking at a college party, then we are setting them up for failure. However if their first experience with alcohol is with their parents at a restaurant, this creates a very different relationship with alcohol and perhaps a more positive one. So I don't think it's simply a matter of what age we allow it, but under what conditions do we allow it. There is nothing wrong with having a beer or two, the problem lies when people exert no self control. Side: Keep it the same!
