The Bible and "Magic"

When the Bible was written all those years ago it included teachings about Magic and Magicians being bad and against God (I cant remember the exact verses but i'm sure there will be site members who can help here, Ismalia you commented about Magic being against your religion do you know? if you do please help and post links).  At the same time as this was written in China Taoist Alchemists were researching immortality and making discoveries that are still used today (Gunpowder and some aspects of modern medicine are based on these discoveries) but surely this was the type of thing the Bible was warning about, so how do Christians balance their faith with the use of these "magical" items because Alchemy and Alchemists are bad right so surely so are their discoveries.

Certain kinds of magic take different sources.

If you utilize the darkest magicks, or the magic or Satanika, then yes, you are casting black magic.

If you use the good, holy power of prayer, you can bind your god to this dimension and force him to follow out your will.

Magic performed by Houdini or David Copperfield all have secrets only known to certain magicians. This kind of magic is harmless and not sinful.
