To me sorry means "I wish I hadn't done it" and not "I feel bad that this hurt you, but If I had the chance to I would do it again, and hopefully not get caught this time". If someone keeps saying sorry about the same thing over and over again chances are they mean the latter and thus aren't really sorry at all.

Whether I'm forgiven or not... totally different deal. I did my part by offering up the apology (of course, I hope to be forgiven)!

I think the concept of being sorry means that they feel bad for what they have done and they want to apologize for what they did to the person or what they said to the person. I know if I call someone a name I feel sorry that I said that to someone. So I go back to that person and ask for an apology and they accept it.

Being sorry means just that being sorry. It is a change of mind about a sin or a mistake. Being sorry is a step in the right direction.

Feeling sorry means that you know that you did something really bad and you make a promise to the one who was offended that you will never do that bad thing ever again.
