Two peeps: 1: My father. He got off the boat from Italy not knowing the language and built his own company from scratch. Respect. 2: Thomas Jefferson. Come on!! He wrote the Declaration of Independence and then got the Louisiana Purchase without Congress' approval!! Ultimate badass. Side: The New Republican
I am going to ditto the "My father" entry. My father is the most down-to-earth, salt-of-the-earth person in my life. These 'of the earth' descriptions mirror his profession; he is a geologist. From an early age, he instilled a love of learning. Mostly by example as he has a limitless fascination with the world around him, stopping the car in the middle of a road trip to analyze the local rock formations. Employing the Socratic method, he led us to our own knowledge. "Hey kids, why do you think that river bends there?" Now that we are adults, he does the same thing. Offering his own experiences as fodder but allowing us to develop our own conclusions, make our own mistakes. I strive to be as curious, joyful and honest as my father. Side: My Role Model
My grandmother is my role model. She adopted me when I was an infant and helped to make me who I am today. I have never before and never will meet a stronger woman. I want to be like her and achieve that inner strength. She was proud, fair and was never afraide to speak her mind. RIP, Grandmother. Side: My Role Model
My role model is also my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I try to lead my whole life in His likeness. Jesus is loving, peaceful, patient, kind, good, righteous, and self-controlled. And, most important, He loves me in spite of my many faults. Whether or not you believe Jesus is the Son of God, the virtues He stands for are a solid foundation on which to build your life. I choose to live by His principles. Side: My Role Model

I don't really know if I have a role model. I like to pick and choose qualities and traits from several different people. My father, for example, has a fantastic work ethic and I strive to be like him when tackling a task or working on projects. He's careful methodical, thorough and very persistent. My mother is very good with people and really adept at handling herself in high stress social situations. She's also very logical and well-informed when it comes to politics and world issues, and I believe that being informed is essential when one states a claim or makes a decision. I really feel like defining yourself based on the achievements of another person doesn't really bode well for the individualist. Creating yourself and strengthening weaknesses through observation of those who have talent in places where you lack it is a way to "fill gaps", so to speak, but it isn't a full and proper foundation. I'd say that there are people who have abilities in areas that I am not too strong in and I do my best to better myself by learning from others. "Role Model" is too formal a title for me. It suggests mimicry and an aspiration to be exactly like a being who already exists. I don't mean to cheapen that for anyone at all. Having goals and identifying ways to reach with the help of others is wonderful and necessary. Just for me, the term is too universal. Side: choose

To be honest there are few people in this world that I admire and fewer that I would consider a role model. Reason being is that I hold people in high regards for how they treat others and how they carry themselves. The definition, as outlined in wikipedia states that a role model is someone that a person would like to emulate. In all instances, I just like to be myself, treat people with love, kindness, and respect. But I would say that I've learned all of my way from my mother and the teachings of Jesus Christ. They would be my role models as well as Martin Luther King, W.E.B. DuBois, Dorothy Height, and my mentor. Side: Social capitalism

My grandparents are definitely my role models. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about how they met as teenagers and were very happily married for over 70 years; how they built their own bakery business and provided food during WWII; and how they raised a loving family and taught values through living by example. They are a true testament to who I am today, and I carry them with me always! Side: My Role Model

I could probably use many examples, but to name one, I would say Ron Paul. He's not comfortable sharing his personal life with anyone unless he's specifically asked, but that in itself is admirable and his integrity is still very clear. I also like the fact that he has never been a media darling. Side: My Role Model
I have a lot of them. One is Ben Carson, a man that believes in himself and God. He did all in his hands to succeed at what he knows best, surrounded himself with good people, made good use of all opportunities at his disposal and put God first in all his deeds Side: My Role Model
