Americayre several factors that make this issue controversial and was unjustified. Firstly America did offer peace to the Japanese several times but was rejected. If japan accepted this surrender (unconditional) japan would be left with very little say in their country’s future. Furthermore, was the bomb needed to ensure japans exit from the war. It was estimated that over 500,000 American livers were saved by dropping the bomb and not an on foot attack; however the bombing caused the destruction of 67 cities and caused 500,000 japan casualties. The only reason why this bomb was dropped was so America could show their power to USSR and the rest of the world. Due to the bombing humanitarian rights were broken with thousands of people dying in seconds, all for japan to agree with America’s terms and conditions.
