QuestionMan's Waterfall RSS

This personal waterfall shows you all of QuestionMan's arguments, looking across every debate.

You seriously do?

First of all, I don't believe you. Second of all, even IF I did believe you then so what?

I get sad for long periods of time so please do not make my bedtime bad for me!

Sorry, my mother was trolling my account... I didn't say any of that.

I have serious depression issues so stop!

Fuck you!

You blame me for my friends trolling and yet here you are trolling hypocrite!

Friends are overrated!

Again troller

You can't blame me for everything.

Partially.

1. Don't cuss

2. I don't have a lot of friends in real life so I go on here and I'm still miserable

3. I was debating for real until you messed it up!

"JC The Regurgitator"

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

What do you mean?

I just explained it to you. What else do you need to understand?

What is circular thinking?

Circular thinking is like I believe something because It tells me so and I know it is true because it tells me so.

If the bible is written not by man according to 2 Timothy 3:16 why shouldn't you believe it?

Isn't that circular thinking?

What does this have to do about the question I gave you? Anyway..........

Why would you want to blindly follow something! That is usually not a good thing!

Why the heck am I on here?...................................... How does Questionman blindly follow Jesus?

That was actually pretty funny..... It wasn't that bad I actually laughed.

Again, irrelevant.

It shouldn't be that annoying if it's a debate site correct?

Yep, and pasted. Seeing as your argument didn't have to do with mine either, it made perfect sense.

Yeah it did I was using a hyperbole when I was saying it was a surge.

I think he does understand... your debate is too vague.

Intangible doesn't understand anything or has any purpose I don't think?

I don't see what your "argument" has to do with mine?

Ummmm did you just copy Hellno's argument?

I don't see what your "argument" has to do with mine?

It's a debate site aren't you supposed to expect religious debates?

2 movies is not a surge. Son of God is a TV show where they took all the episodes and put them together to make a movie. It isn't a big deal.

They are expected to be very popular AAA movies the "surge" was a hyperbole.

About the same as I think about the surge in religious debates on this site... it's a little annoying.

Come on you don't like to revisit debates?

Your question is dumbuh.

How the fuck can you oppose science? <.<

You can't just say "fuck gravity!" and then float away.

I don't think you understand....

I think that the whole bit about God creating a man out of thin air and then violently ripping out one of his ribs to make the first woman is pretty unscientific, don't you?

Firstly God didn't create man out of thin air he made it out of dust or dry earth. Secondly he didn't' violently rip out his ribs according to Genesis 2:21-23 which reads

King James Version (KJV)

21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

How is that violently ripping off his ribs? How does that mean they "oppose it".

I'm not sure then... honestly. . .

What do you mean? Also sorry for changing the debate title.

2 points

Well I think everyone should be educated regardless of them being male or female.

Not all christians, but some christians do, so yes, there are christians that oppose science, though to be fair there are also non-christians that oppose science, not as a product of their christianity, but could be from other things, like conspiracy theories.

Sorry I phrased it wrong so if you want to change to the other side.

2 points

Because it goes against the Bible.

How does science go against the bible?

It's impossible to get all achievements in the game when the servers close and some require long hours of grinding.

Not all christians, but some christians do, so yes, there are christians that oppose science, though to be fair there are also non-christians that oppose science, not as a product of their christianity, but could be from other things, like conspiracy theories.

Note: Changed Debate Title To Do You Think Most Christians Oppose Science?

I didn't just make it up, so of course there is evidence. Just because it doesn't fall in line with your opinion, doesn't mean it isn't true.

Can I get a link is all I'm asking.

You don't know that.

Is there any evidence for that? No? I will assume that it is not true.

A more ridiculous idea is hard to think of.

One Word: Scientology!

Morality only based on religion or god-belief is bad, and morality based on god-belief is unnecessary with morality based on secular reasoning. Morality based on god-belief results in a free for all, because why god approves of and disapproves of can not be verified thus on those grounds any moral stance can be equally justified. Base it on other secular reasoning, and it doesn't have to be based on such chaotic grounds.

Can't not believing in God being a moral free for all?

Could you name some atrocities in the name of atheism, that really wasn't more in the name of politics? Why is it, I only hear of consequences in the name of atheism, when socialist or communist ideology is taken place, but when that ideology is taken out, atheism ends up leading to higher standards of living?

Wasn't all the atrocities in the name of religion also in the name of politics?

So then why does homosexuality have to be singled out here, why refer to the term specifically at all? Also they still allow heterosexuals to marry, but not homosexuals... still discrimination.

Because it describes that acts it is one of many sins Christians believe in.

Such as lust,adultery,homosexuality,etc.

The USSR enforces their views on people, because that is what gets them power, when the people agree with them on everything, when the people are forced to agree with the views of those in power it reinforces their power. Their is correlation between atheism and socialism/communism, but simply that, a correlation.

My point is people don't need religion to control people.

No, that is a good point, but if someone says they are doing it in the name of X, and they can't possibly be doing it for anything else, then I am going to take their word for it. Thing is, you can't use a lack of belief to justify anything, I can't say "I am going to do this because I don't believe in a god" but you can say "I am going to do this because I believe in a god that commands me to".

Okay the USSR killed people in the name of Atheists so do you think it should count.

Well, it causes them to be ignorant of science, and stifles them in reality that way, it also stifles the scientific progress of society.

I am simply stating that most people it wouldn't significantly effect.

What do you mean here?

It's called the marriage penalty.

People don't want to acknowledge the responsibility religion has for it's effects because they don't like the idea of acknowledging their religion having blood on it's hands. Not every christian is the same, not every muslim is the same, not every jew is the same, and they are not responsible for what results of their religion (unless they actually took part) but their religion IS responsible.

I'm talking about Christianity.

You can't expect someone to harm themselves psychologically for no good reason. It is still unfair that they would have to repress their sexuality, but not heterosexuals...

Christians according to the Bible can only have sex inside of marriage.

Possibly.

That's my point.

No, me neither, but the sun is responsible for light and "God is light", so I think the sun may have held some significance to them.

There's no historical evidence for this.

I can't prove anything. It's just something that I was told. Since the story was passed down orally for many years, I don't think anybody actually knows a precise date. I was just demonstrating how even virgin birth myths appear in many other religions. I can't even positively say that the halo and Sunday were of Constantine's doing, but we do know that Christianity changed after the Council of Nicaea.

Fair enough but the halo and Sunday were not of Constantine's doing.

Give money to the saints on Sunday. That doesn't make it a day of worship. You also have to keep in mind when the Bible was compiled.

It seems to be early tithing to the church.

Constantine had a much greater impact on Christianity.

Never said he didn't

It was a symbol to represent a sun god.

Yes but I don't think early Christians thought of Jesus as a sun God.

I've got a few other choice words for him, but I guess loon is sufficient.

What are the other ones?

No, but I was for a few years ...

Why did you change your mind about Buddhism?

Well, I'm looking through my old textbook right now, so if you have any evidence to support your argument, I'd be happy to see it.

Okay I personally could not find anything about Buddha's supposed virgin birth I could only find (the unreliable) Wikipedia which said this....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miraculousbirths#Birthof_Buddha

Again the only place I found this claim was the movie. I am not an expert on Buddhism so if you know anything tell me.

Okay thanks for the help for debating! So only for the parts your disputing........

I believe Christianity has been corrupted, and the original teachings that do remain have been misinterpreted. I think that Christianity and Buddhism were once very similar, but now as a result of politics, their messages are much different. Buddhism seems to have stuck with their original message more than Christianity.

What do you mean the original copies of the New Testament are only from 20 years later or so for some and at most 300 and at most contain minor spelling differences and small differences such as Mark 16:9-20. I don't know how that would change the whole message?

Proof?

And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

-Acts 20:7

Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

-1 Corinthians 16:2

Constantine and Pope Julius were from two different time periods.

Yeah I agree but they started to popularize it.

It can be argued that an Aten was the origin for the halo, but Aten used to be worshipped.

So what about it?

It's still a really old virgin myth.

Still Pre-Christian Buddhism didn't have that myth by mainstream scholars.

Sunday is actually the first day of the week. In the Bible, God blessed the seventh day... Which is Saturday. Prove it

I know my point is it was already common before Constantine. He and Pope Julius Offically "kicked it off" but it was common before.

Yeah, that's how we describe it now. It is believed to have been modeled after the sun. At one time, it was referred to as a "solar disc".

Do you mean an Aten?

I think so as it prevents judges from twisting the interpretation of the Constitution to "pass bills without congress".

I think personally it depends on the religion and what people think it is.
