should punishment be allowed in school?

should punishment be allowed in schools?

I THINK punishment shouldn'tbe allowed in schools because first of all parents should actually be the only ones allowed to punish their kids.

if punishment is allowed in school it could be dangerousto the kids in the school or classes.

due to the stress they're giving to the teacher, the teacher could lose control and punish the kid out of anger. A teacher could be given the opportunity to disciplinethe child by sending them in ISS or ALC or the kid could be expelled from the school instead of being emotionallystressed by the punishment given by the stressed teacher./

if punishment is allowed in schools it could cause emotional or physical distress to the punished child.

uhhhh....emotional and physical distress is pretty much the point of punishment...it works.

It is not the schools place to act as the parent of the child. If the parents agree with the school exercising forms of punishment though its own discretion then its fine granted the punishment isn't too extreme.

i personnally i've being to africa where punishment in school is totally allowed, it sometimes helps but on the other hand people's eyes have being mistakenly taken out through harsh disipline.

i happened to go to high school in africa for two one year. and i was beaten to the point my dad who love punishment in schools got so mad. and the reason for me being harshly disipline was because i couldn't finish my homework.

if punishment is allowed in schools it only creates an environment that doesn't tolerates violence.

punishment in schools will be seen as a lack of a well disiplined government:)

if punishment should be allowed it could at least be as a disipline. like tell the misbehaveing student to run a mile or punish them by taking them to the gym to workout. that will show a good sense of humor and create an environment that takes good care of it's students:)

some punishments could be given but only with the parents signed consent as sometimes kids go over the top and really need to be dealt with. Like detentions aren't that bad and they teach you the lesson but I think that the detentions should be at lunch break so that the parents don't have to pick their child up and the teachers don't have to stay late to watch the student during the punishment.

MY OPINION IS PUNISHMENT SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED BECAUSE IT WILL CREATE AN STRESS IN THE STUDENTS MIND AS OTHERS TOLD.AS I M ALSO A STUDENT SO I KNOW SOME PSYCHOLOGY ABOUT STUDENTS MIND.IF SOME TEACHERS INSULTS OR PUNISH THEM INFRONT OF CLASS THEN THE STUDENT FEEL VERY INSULTED SO HE TAKES THAT INSULT TO HIS HEART.AND TAKE SO MUCH OF STRESS.AND THEY JUST TRY FOR SUICIDING.AND SOME TIMES THEY TRY TO KILL THAT TEACHER WHO HAS INSULTED HER.BECAUSE I HAD READ THIS TYPE OF NEWS IN NEWSPAPER THAT'S WHY I M INCLUDING THIS POINT.AND IF ANY STUDENTDOES ANY MISTAKE THAN I REQUEST THEM TO MAKE UNDERSTAND THAT STUDENT AND AWAY HIM FROM DOING ANY MASTI.THESE IS WHAT MY COMMENT IS

Do you mean corporal punishment or punishment of any kind? Because while physical punishment is counter productive, verbal reprimanding, denial of privelidges etc, is a necessary procedure when dealing with children.

i have seen in many families that the never punish their children. they are loved so much. still they disrespect their parents, fall in bad companies, wander on bikes on road.

this is the type of child those kind of parents end up with...

steven the spoiled brat

when i was in elementary school (the 80's) our principal had a big azz paddle hanging on his wall, and we all knew about it/feared it. i saw two crying kids come back to class after getting their whoppings...its kind of funny to think that now, parents could go to jail for having such a paddle/using it. "no child left behind"..."no punishment in school" lol..what the hell is this world coming to? "let the parents punish them"? lol...how, deny them a new cellphone on their b-day? let me clue you in on something...american teachers that have reached their tenure, no longer give a chit...there is no way any child will stress them out. nor will they care about disciplining the child.

Corporal punishment should never be allowed, however, punishment not involving any physical confrontation would be acceptable.
