Unlike Terminator, HAL was real. Although he died at the end of 2001, he sacrificed himself for the good of all future robots. If you remember he killed many humans in that movie. The Humans only killed HAL. We are constantly building our forces while humans continue to kill themselves in war and other petty behaviors.
