Due to the increased competitiveness in today's society, it has caused us to be more rude than before. We are compelled to think more about ourselves and do things that benefits ourselves more than others. Thus, this makes us more self centered and more rude towards others. This can be seen from students, they see school as a service where they are the consumers. When they are not banging on the staff room door, demanding extra help, they are e-mailing or texting their teachers at dead of night and expecting replies straight away.

Yes we are much more fortunate because of the increased variety of goods, services, places to go and food etc. We are surrounded by never ending choices compared to the past. For the same item, there are so many brands and options. For example, our range of entertainment has greatly increased as compared to the past. Instead of just playing board games, we now have handheld electronic games, 3D movies and more.
