I believe that one of the major obstacles in public education is the fact that we are attempting to prep all of our students for a future at a 4 year college. Let's be honest, not all of our students want or need to go to a 4 year college in order to be successful or to make decent money. I think that we should bring back "tracks" and vocational education/trade schools and help them to graduate with a specific skill that will ensure that they can be hired right after high school. When we individualize our instruction in this manner, we will really be better able to meet the needs of all of our students.
