I don't think the school should be named after him. Even though it was his idea to make the school in the first place, if you wanna "honor" someone you shouldn't wait till that person is deceased or in this case retiring. If they wanted to "honor" him they should have done it while he was still working for the Irving Isd. And another thing, how can you honor someone that doesn't want to be honored?
