While sufficient scientific data has not been gathered to prove the existence of the paranormal, psychology tells us that we don't see the world exactly as it is. Rather, we see it in ways that are convenient to us. That in mind, the argument that "ghosts," or other paranormal phenomena exist outside of our perception has some plausibility. It could be argued that perceiving spiritual energy would have considerable effect on how we carry out our daily lives, and thus such perceptions exist outside of our normal awareness. Innumerable accounts of paranormal activity have been recorded, and while many are not empirically verifiable, they suggest that unexplained occurrences are not exactly coincidental. Furthermore, these accounts provide evidence that we don't have complete awareness of the nature of the world we inhabit.
