How to know if someone is stealing your internet

I feel my neighbor is stealing my Internet because we have the same ip, when he opens up Google Chrome it says that I loggged in for my email.

If he/she had the same IP it would not work since no two machines on the same network can have the same IP well they could be set up to but this means one of the machines would not work on the network then. But one way to know if they are stealing it is to get an IP scanner and scan your network for IP's on your network that are in use, the only IP's that should be in use is the one for your router and any machines in your house that are connected to the router. If there are more IP's detected that are in use than there should be then someone is stealing your internet. Or you could just log into your router and set the max number of machines allowed to connect to your router and then change your wireless password and reconnect all machines in your household this should make it to where no more machines can connect to the router, just dont forget to set the max to as many machines you will be connecting to your router including the router since it also will use an IP in the range you select and if you do this using static routes should be better than DHCP..... go youtube.

Or if you wanted to you could go further and have it to where your router only allows connections from machines that you specifically specify by logging into the router and enetring your machines MAC addfress into the router and by changing the setting to make it only allow these machines to connect to it. Youtube should be the only source you need to figure outhow to do either or both of these solutions to keep anyone else from using your router as people post up videos and examples of how to do it as we all know EXPLANATIONS are not the best way to TEACH. Even further you can set up your router to where it doenst broadcast its name out to the world to be able to find it, but if you do this it would be wise to change the wilress name to something else as well, this as well can be found on youtube for help.

I'm afraid that computer science is a little outside of my field, but if you maintain a fairly average bandwidth usage, you could always check if any more than usual is being used.
