The 1980 miracle on ice USA vs. Soviet union was rigged!

The 1980 olympics saw the greatest miracle in sports.  The USA national hockey team beat the #1 team in the world in the semifinals 4-3.  Too bad it was rigged.  The USA threatened to boycott the olympics in moscow.  To ensure that they would attend, the soviets promised the USA they would throw the hockey game and let them win.  The soviets could've easily destroyed the United States, in-fact the united states lost just two weeks before to the USSR 10-3 in an exhibition game.  Not to mention the United States team was full of college players that were clearly outmatched by the bigger and stronger Soviets.

There is no way the low ranked USA team could have beaten the #1 world ranked Soviet team. The soviet coach even pulled the worlds best goaltender, Vladislav Tretiak, after the first of three periods! And he didn't pull the goalie for an extra skater when they were down by one with only a few minutes left.

that's interesting and all, but do you have any proof of this?

I mean, I could easily start a rumor saying that MLK made a pact with Satan.

The Soviet Union would never willingly lose anything. There have been bigger upsets than that, Notre Dame beating Army in 1913 by 25 points, Giants beating 18-0 Patriots, Stanford beating USC in 2007 (41 point underdogs). Those are a few. Pretty much anything is possible.
