If God is All Powerful then why did it take him 6 days to create the universe

The bible was written ~2000 years ago. Back then, was there a different definition for the word "day" ? As far as I am aware, don't all cultures divide up time primarily by the sun rising or setting, essentially the sky being blue vs the sky being black? I can find no example of a culture dividing up the time any other way. It's possible I haven't looked hard enough. I just find it funny when people say "well we don't know how long a 'day' was in the bible". Did the people in the middle east during the time consider a day to be from when the sun rose until the sun set? And night vice versa? 1

The idea that the word "day" was somehow figurative is bullshit. The hebrew word used in Genesis was "yom", the exact same word used for day in the conventional sense all throughout the Bible. Why don't they question the meaning of "day" in all other instances? And if that doesn't convince you, it clearly states that each day was marked by the rising and setting of the sun. If that isn't a day, what is? As much as I fucking hate Ken Ham, he's right on this one. As far as I am aware, don't all cultures divide up time primarily by the sun rising or setting, essentially the sky being blue vs the sky being black? as much as that is true, if you read the creation story, for the first few "days" there was no sun or moon to mark any form of time. so it would be inaccurate for someone to believe god made it in six days if there were no celestial beings to judge a twenty four hour period for a few "days". The bible is a piece of literature work, there are many other ways common day to day words and phrases are used. And even if he did make it in six days( i see as twenty four hour periods), i dont think it makes him weaker, it tells me that he likes to put order in what he does. 1

To answer this question, "if God is all powerful, then why did it take him 6 days to create the universe?" Well, he did not just procrastinate on this 6 days. It only shows us that there should be an EQUAL DISTRIBUTION between WORK and REST. Even if a being is all powerful, one should still value the importance of REST in our daily lives. |
