Where did Jesus say: I AM God, worship Me?

Add New Argument

When Jesus said, “Before Abraham was, I AM,” he was claiming to be God. His language echoes that time when God revealed himself to Moses in the burning bush (Exodus 3:14). God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” The Septuagint translates this as “I Am the Being,” and Jesus’s statement here confirms this teaching. At the very end of the Bible, in Revelation, John says-

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” (Rev. 1:8)

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” (Rev 22:13)

In these verses, Jesus is worshipped as God-

Matthew 2:11: And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him.

Matthew 14:33: And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

Matthew 28:9-10: And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him.

Matthew 28:16-17: Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted.

Luke 24:51: While he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven. 52 And they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy

John 9:37-38: Jesus said to him, “You have seen him, and it is he who is speaking to you.” 38 He said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.

Hebrews 1:6: And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.”

Revelation 22:3: No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him.

I am going to create a man and a woman with "original sin". Then I'm going to impregnate the woman with myself as her child so that I can be born. Once alive, I will allow myself to be killed … as a sacrifice to myself to save you from the "sin" I originally condemned you to …….

I have nothing against a persons needing something to believe in, nothing at all. Somebody said Jesus said that "I am God". There is NO proof that can't be attributed to hearsay, no proof at all. Just a book written about three centuries after the "facts".

Let's see …. Trump has twisted the "facts" 10,000 times in less than 3 years. (Proven) I wonder how many times they got twisted in 300 years?? Some even believe Trump even after he's been proven wrong …. I guess that's how they can believe the Bible (or Koran, etc.) when they have never been proven right.

I appreciate your civility.

I do think I am on topic. NOBODY "KNOWS" Jesus said anything. All Christians have is a book cobbled together by an Emperor out of somewhat unreadable tablets and crispy papyrus leaves (an goat herder fireside stories), about 300 years AFTER all this was supposed to be "said" or happened. Even the "Trilogy", I've read, was not "In Vogue" until the third century when a Monk, I forget his name, came up with the "idea". After being "translated" (an imperfect operation, at best) from several ancient languages to Koine Greek by rather devout believers, who, I'm sure, had to "fill in the blanks" with whatever they believed "must" have been said or happened.

Then, there's the info that the Nativity Story was made up in, I believe it was the 6th century, by St. Francis of Assisi,as "a way" to explain the birth of Jesus to his "flock". Then there's the Ark, impossible to believe, and Jonah and the whale (whales can't swallow a man, they eat plankton).

This "Bible" (the name means "little library" in one of those ancient languages), was handwritten, and re-translated, copied by hand several times before being "printed" several centuries later. So, what did Jesus say?? Whatever it was, if it was, it's hearsay. I left formal education in the early 60's. I've learned a lot since then, but, I've forgotten a lot that I learned earlier, guess we all do after over 60 years. Still, I have to have enough "believable fact" to accept something.

I respect your belief, I just can't find enough believable fact to join you in it. You have a nice day.

Christianity is theologically incoherent and I would much rather be a Jew or Muslim if I was one of the three. This is because they are truly monotheistic and somewhat coherent as far as theology goes but Christianity is just nonsense. It is basically trying it's ass off to be a monotheistic religion but has an insane paradox at play wherein Jesus is both God, God's son and a human at the same time. If I believed in God, I would still find it extremely difficult to believe in Jesus and would see it as a form of idol-worship in a sense to worship a half man half God and consider it the same being as God while also being something distinct. Christianity is essentially founded on Orwellian doublethink in that regard.

Note:

I used to be a Muslim so I technically "believed in Jesus" but not in the sense that he is god or god's son. Muslims believe he was a prophet and Jews believe he was a false Messiah, either of which makes more sense than christian beliefs about him.
