A business owner should have the right to refuse service to anyone, for any reason. Even if they're being an asshole. They're really just shooting themselves in the foot though, because not only are they losing the business of the gay couple in question, they're losing the business of people like myself who don't want to give their money to an establishment that won't bake a wedding cake over such a benign detail. Capitalism 101.

SexyJesus,

I agree completely.

The free market rewards tolerance. In fact, it is better at encouraging people to cooperate than anything else. Because all transactions are voluntary in a truly free market, and because the transactions are agreements for the parties to benefit each other, free market capitalism brings people together in positive interactions.

That encourages tolerance.

The Muslims, because they shouldn't be forced to bake or do anything, even if their reason for not doing it is bigoted and stupid.

The Ali Bongos should have the freedom to follow the teachings of the scriptures of their Koran.

To force anyone to break their deeply held religious beliefs or their own codes of morality by the imposition of draconian legislation is the beginning of a totalitarian state.

If you’re a baker of cakes you should at least have the courtesy to post up a sign stating who you will and will not serve .

A Muslim baker if consistent with their religious teachings would not serve lesbians , separated or divorced people , drinkers of alcohol , lovers of non Islamic music etc, etc,

If a baker told a black man β€œ I don’t serve niggers β€œ is that equally fair because it’s the bakers right to do so ?

Agreed 100% Dermot, but check out the Equal Opportunities Commissions successful court case against the Christian owned, Ashers Bakery in Belfast who, for reasons of religious conviction refused to adorn a cake with a gay marriage message.

The Left has become such Big Brother control fanatics, they think they have the right to force private businesses to cater things that go against their faith or heart felt beliefs.

How would you like to force African American family owned businesses to cater KKK conventions?

How would you like to force Prolife family owned businesses to cater pro abortion conventions!

How would you like to force a Jewish owned family business to cater a nazi convention?

How would you like to force a Feminist owned business to cater a convention for Male Cheauvanists?

How would you like to force a divorcee to cater their ex spouse's wedding?

How would you like to force a Peta business owner to cater a fur trapper's convention?

This is no different then forcing a Christian business to cater an adulterers convention, or a Pedophile convention. It does not matter what the sin is, because when you force a busness to celebrate the sin, it goes against a Christian's beliefs.

ARE YOU STARTING TO GET IT? This is what this Gay lawsuit will do to all privately owned businesses and their freedoms to say no to any job they do not want for personal reasons. It's not like there are not many many other businesses who will gladly take your money.

Nah, the Left is blind to their political correct fixation with unnatural sexual orientations. You will screw everyone's freedoms for the sake of your insecurities of homosexuality.

You think you can force Christians to deny their faith. You would try and force people to agree with you and sanction your sexual orientation as natural. You think you can force us and science to deny biology.

Ask yourself if you were a Gay person wanting to get married, would you choose a Christian owned catering service whose owner did not support the marriage? Why would you ever want to force someone to do your wedding when he did not support it?

There can be only one reason for this law suit. As always, it's the Left and activist gays who used this private business to get their lawsuit going, with the hopes it would end up in the Supreme court, just as they did when forcing all States to change their marriage laws.

The Left loves tryng to compare this to a restaurant denying Black people. There is no comparison because your skin color does not go against anyone's religious convictions. Being Black is not a sin according to the Christian faith, and no Christian or other religion believes it is. It is not supporting something you believe to be a sin.

If there was such a racist restaurant, would you want to eat their? I would not! I would never give them one dollar!

Lets hope and Pray we have enough Conservative Justices to stand up for our freedoms to say no, no matter what you think. It's our business. We spent our money, worked long hours, and Big Brother has no right telling us to do things going against our conscience.

The Christian faith says Homosexuaity is a sin... get over it! Respect our freedom and right's to our beliefs!

It matters not what you think of Homosexuality, it's not your privately owned business! Pick a business that supports your marriage, etc.

There are plenty of them!

The left would say you are free to believe it is a sin, but you just cannot discriminate against them on the basis of those beliefs.

I guess I am at a loss as to what good it does you to have the right to a belief when you are prohibited from exercising (acting upon) that belief, PROVIDED that doing so does not interfere with the person or property of anyone else.

Discriminate means to distinguish between.

When you allow open and proud homosexuals to become priests, you get abominable things like this one church by the university here in Austin(that out of politeness I won't name), where they refer to God as "Mother" and do other things to pervert the scriptures in order to justify themselves and push their political agenda.

The problem here is that the left does not actually believe in liberty, they exploit the fact that people believe in liberty in order to sneak their agenda through, which is to overthrow the government and seize power.

Nobody actually wants them to do what it is they are trying to do. Even the people who think they are wise to this game and are going along with it don't realize that the end result is not really whatt they ever wanted to begin with.

This really isn't a religious issue as far as I can see, the whole cake thing. It's the right of a business to refuse service to anyone for any reason. That is what is being attacked here. If I owned a business, I would not appreciate being forced to do business with someone. That is what mobsters do. It isn't ethical.

Why is this made into a religious issue?

It's either because people are not very good at seeing through the fog that obscures the real issue, or it is because there are people who are at war with faith, and have no problem fighting this terrible evil they see in the world.

They are the ones being wicked, if they only knew! They don't know what they are doing.

I think a little charity would be better on all sides.

Can you read?

I just clearly explained how there will always be many businesses who will gladly take your money and cater that Gay wedding reception. No one is being prohibited their wedding reception!

You are the arrogant Left who would allow some African American owned business to be forced to cater a KKK convention, even though there are other businesses who would do it.

Stop with the insanity of this political correct love affair with unnatural sexual orientations. It is tearing this nation apart.

Gays can live their lives without being discriminated against, and at the same time not forcing it on others. To go down this slippery slope leads to all those other examples I sited.

I've had cake in many places. I can tell you I've never asked if the baker was gay or Muslim, and I don't give a damn, if the cake is good, I'll eat it.

The question is:

Should a Muslim baker have to make a gay wedding cake, seeing it goes against their beliefs?
