When patients give consent to receive medical treatments it is common that they would have been briefed about it, hence patients will know what to expect out of these medical treatments. In Singapore whenever the patients collect the medicine prescribed by the doctors, the nurses would brief the patients about the side effects and the illness that the medicine treats. Patients thus know what the medicine can and cannot do for them, hence stopping them from expecting the medicine to be the panacea for all of the illnesses that he or she is suffering from. Hence, people do not expect too much.

The world we lived in now is in perils as we face threat from terrorism and an increasingly uncertain world thus the masses need to be educated. Television programmes have huge viewership due to the increasing middle class in various societies. Thus, it has become one of the easiest ways to disseminate information. Due to the these circumstances, TV will need to shoulder part of the responsibility of educating the public. Hence, its main purpose is to educate.
