Are humans naturally polyamorous?

If most mammals are not monogamous, they do not pair bond, and there is so much cheating going on in the human world, does this give weight to polyamorous type relationships? *Raw thought, just trying to stir it up with different debates*.

I know I was polyamorous until my wife put a stop to that crap ;)

Jealousy and possession, combined with the slow birth rate of humans indicates that it is wise to be monogamous, however, because humans are also free to live how they desire, it makes little difference. An individual can live however they wish.

Jealousy and possession are results of specific relations to the means of production, where your well being is less tied to household income, the income of a spouse or other parent to your child and so on, you'll see less incentive to be monogamous.

Most people are not monogamous, but serially monogamous with periods of polyamourousness inbetween. Monogamy results from scarcity of resources, as that is less of an issue you will see less monogamy.
