A religion believes in a higher power than us. Atheists believe that there is no higher power and when you are dead then that is it, there is nothing else. So no, since Atheists do not believe in a higher power, Atheism is not a religion, but, rather, a belief system. Side: No
Religions don't believe in a higher power, but they believe in a certain, set way. They use a guide (such as the bible)... and, they're not supported by much else other than that guide. Atheism is the disbelief in any theory on God (including pantheism). Atheists believe that there is no way possible that an unnatural being or source can exist. a leap of faith, yes, but a religion? no. Side: No
We've pretty much covered this before: http://www.createdebate.com/debate/show/ Religions are formal methods of acting on a belief system. As atheism is not a belief system, it could not be considered a religion by any stretch. Side: No
