Point downers are pussies :)

It often happens to me, that I write an argument to something, and nobody comments it but some just voted down.

I think its being a pussy, to not defend your self when you disagree with someone.

Don't vote down and be a sucker,  dispute and tell me why you disagree with me.

But what do you think?

I'm going to start point downing everyone I see and I'll get back with ya to determine if it's true. Deal?

Downvote 1! Nope, still not a pussy but I'll keep trying and to answer your question... YES!

People who down vote get one point subtracted from their own score also. So if you down vote something, you better really hate it because you will lose a point too.

I'm new to this site, but I put up points that I agree with, and ones that I don't agree with I put down.

Although I often do dispute, support or clarify any argument, even ones I agree with, sometimes someone says something that isn't worth replying to, something that's short, useless and purely opinion based without any sort of logic or fact within, and I feel that that sort of comment isn't worth replying to, only taking a point off for it being far too biased to even begin to sway anyone's opinion unless you already agree with it.

I debate to find truth, not to win win win and get points. If an argument is wrong, I will change my side and my opinion.

This website is a place for education, not forcing others to agree with you. Look at the "Existence of God" debate on here. Atheists won, so theists can learn something new. It can be painful or sad to learn something and accept something new you used to not agree with, but when in pursuit of the truth, not just any truth, but the REAL truth, the one that can be found without making it up, but based on definitions, facts, logic, good arguments and evidence, then you should say when your side loses a debate, "Maybe I was wrong. Next time, I'll support the other side so that I'm right."

That's learning.

Not if the argument is fundamentally flawed, such as a serious error in logic, morality, or grammar.

If you down-vote something and don't dispute it, that comes across as pretty weak. There are some particularly bad posts that really do deserve to be voted down, but as a courtesy you should at least tell the person why you did it. When I get down-voted but my post goes undisputed, I usually assume someone disliked or didn't agree with that I said, but doesn't have adequate brainpower or will to refute it.

Yeah, I agree.

I actually feel kinda annoyed when people do that. Not because I lose a point, I don't care about the points. I'm not here to get points.

But I get annoyed because I'm really interested in hearing their opinion, and why they don't agree with me.

I think a comment should be voted down when it is amusing to someone, or just are idiotic.. racist and so on. You know what I mean right?
