Should criminals be given privacy?

Criminals certainly are given a lot of publicity in some countries. But does what they have done makes them to "deserve" this kind of treatment?

I'm not sure if the "yes" and "no" sides are responding to the question in the title or the description...but I'm responding to the title. If a criminal has already been punished by being put in jail, further unnecessary and unwanted publicity would be cruel. It is wrong to do harm even to a criminal beyond what is necessary to prevent crime. Then it is not justice; it's revenge and rationalization of cruelty.

Well but if a criminal has already been put to jail and he is sentenced for few years in jail after offences like rape or alleged manslaughter, don't the people have the right to know who the criminals are and be aware? And also, can "further unnecessary and unwanted publicity" be worse than what the criminal may have done?

Side: Nah

If you are a criminal, then I don't pity you. Suck it up. ;)

i think that criminal should be redfined to include hate mongers like glenn beck, lou dobbs, oreily, hannity followers, and definitely racists. those people should not be given privacy and monitored vigorously.

I personally do not believe in civil liberties for criminals. People are given a chance to be good and moral citizens, and when they decide to do things like rape, kill, rob, and other crimes, they have given up their rights. If something that can in any way improve another, law abiding person's life at the criminal's expense it should be done.

Of course , they should have a page dedicated to naming those proven guilty of crimes . Public humiliation should be part of the punishment. Crime affects the public so why not. It may even act as a deterant. It really pisses me off when people are caught red handed but still proclaim innocence or cry poor me. The way that some crims are pampered or protected to the many degrees they are is a friggin weak deterant against crime and an insult to those victims of crime. This is why some people prefer to stay in jail. For some , life in jail , is easier and safer than being out of jail. And then there is people like recently convicted peodophile Dennis Ferguson , and his legal protection , allowing him to go wherever he wants , makes me sick. I am one of the many Australians who are insulted by his release. The way he so smugly uses his legal protective rights to inter-mingle among society and the way our law allows this to be is just disrespectful and everytime i hear that he is crying for his equal rights it just makes me want to bump into him even more. Privacy ? But he doesnt want privacy , thats why he parked his scumbag arse on a kiddy packed sydney beach , not long after his release. I will give him privacy , in his own grave ! after i toture him !
