Should illegal drugs be available to the elderly?

After a long peaceful , law abiding life ; people should have the choice to make thier last days as comfortable as possible.

I am not saying that they should be 'stoned' driving down the freeway ; of course there should be precautions to protect the general public .

Drugs should not be illegal. Making drugs illegal causes more harm than good. Drug prohibition breaks up families, bankrupts people, makes people homeless, causes explosions and accidents, kills cops and innocent people, creates criminal gangs and gang violence, increases the availability of drugs for children, increases racial profiling, makes drugs look sexy, is responsible for bribery and corruption, funds terrorist activity, takes drugs away from the sick and dying, decreases scientific study. Drugs are a health issue not a criminal issue and should be treated as such. So how do we keep people from using drugs without locking them up? We use the same tactics that we have used successfully to keep people from smoking cigarettes. We respect their dignity and we tell them the truth. It's cheaper and much more humane.

Hell yes, they've got one foot in the grave anyways, I think they deserve to blow off a little steam.

Yes. Because the only time I want to try most drugs is when I'm so old that the health risks won't matter.

Might as well argue that the elderly and those who are long-term goody-two shoes should be exempt from theft, assault, and other crimes.

It's not what people do to themselves that are the problems with illegal drugs, it's what they do to OTHERS.

No one is arguing that people should not be responsible for what they do to others. If elderly people commit crimes DUI, steal, assault, rape or murder they should be held accountable. Prohibition does not prevent criminal activity it creates it.

The elderly are goofy enough as it is. Drugs would just make it worse.
