Should speeding tickets be based on income?

Is it a scam for government to generate for income?

Speeding

I think so. If I have millions of dollars at my disposal, why should I care if I'm fined a few hundred here and there.

In most states, there is a point system, which deters drivers to speed excessively apart from a monetary fine.

Oh the point system... That's exactly why my mom just discovered why cruise control doesn't work under 25 MPH. haha She asked me yesterday if I knew that (I did) because she doesn't want to risk another ticket. Did I mention she just got a new Mustang in June? >.> lol

Why should somebody with more money pay more isn't that punishing them for having more...as far as I am concerned that is discrimination. Plus the whole damn thing is a scam anyway for states to milk more of your money from you.

Well, if everybody pays an equal percentage of their income, the idea is that the impact it has on each person would then be equal as well. Even then, the impact still wouldn't really be equal. Imagine something ridiculous like losing half your income on a speeding fine. For most of us, that would be devastating to our financial wellbeing. Now imagine Tiger Woods losing half his 2009 income (what did he make, 90 million or something?). Oh shit...how am I going to survive for an entire year on 45 million?

Side: yes

This is outright discrimination against the wealthy. It is also (like 90% of all new taxes) a government scam.

Any law that creates different punishments for different people is unjust and will only aggravate society.

Side: No

It is a government scam in order to generate revenue for their pet projects.

A scam? If people are likely to have to pay a fine for speeding, they will be less likely to do so, and our roads will be safer.

Not that complicated...

Side: yes

There are only means in keeping the roads safe such as the point system.

Side: No

No. We should not give benefits to people who mooch off the system. If they want to play lumberjack, then they have to learn to handle their end of the log.

Class envy warfare again. Most tickets are expensive because of so many guilty people going to court to fight what they obviously did and this adds court costs to the county. Very little money is made on speeding tickets.

Side: No

No way should speeding tickets be based on income! I say this because it will cause the police to be bias against the more wealthy, which will also cause them to let the others fly under the radar. I say this because they will know they can make a bigger catch if they get the guy driving the Bugatti.

No they should not be. This is simply another way for the government to take our well-earned money and spend it on worthless projects and programs, thus increasing our debt and consequentially, our taxes.

Side: No

A speeding ticket should remain the same regardless of one's income.
