People abuse gun rights to rob places and take hostages. people say that you need guns to protect yourself but do you really have time to find your gun if you are taken hostage. usualy the people commiting the crime are more prepared and ready to strike
Humans are liable to make mistakes but have control over the frequency of their mistakes. The more you are "penalized" for your "mistakes" makes it more likely that you won't repeat them. If this penalization makes you a better human, then it is a worthwhile policy.
