Eugenics was NOT invented by Francis Galton, but he invented the TERM eugenics. Because eugenics have been used even before the invention of the term. What you are saying is inaccurate, when I read this, I took it that you are saying that Galton is the inventor of Eugenics.
I agree to what you have said because, indeed the Industrial Revolution happening so therefore need more slaves to do work for the 'white' men and since Darwin traveled much he noticed the attitude and treatment towards the colored and soon questioned if the colored were the "missing link" between ape to human just because their skin color was similar to apes, but he didn't know any better.
The similarities and differences between Darwinism and Social Darwinism is that they both involve of Selection (artificial or natural) and is discussed in Evolution. The Difference is that in Darwinism is about Evolution but Social Darwinism is about the "Survival of the Fittest".
Yes, Darwin's concepts have contributed to eugenics. One of Darwin's concept; Artificial Selection is very much alike to eugenics when the subject that is being used are humans. During artificial selection, people usually select the ones that are likely to survive and last longer then the weak. Eugenics is:
"The the study of or belief in the possibility of improving the qualities
of the human species or a human population, especially by such
means as discouraging reproduction by persons having genetic
defects or presumed to have inheritable undesirable traits(negative
eugenics) or encouraging reproduction by persons presumed to
have inheritable desirable traits (positive eugenics)"

And both try to improve something of it's own species.
In the 19th Century, in the Americas and Europe, Slavery was occurring. Slavery definitely had influence over Darwin's Work and concepts. He had thought that the African Americans were more closely related to the Primates then those with lighter colored skin. This thought has occurred when he was sailing around the world, because he came in contact with many African American slaves. From this thought, society liked this theory because this allowed the settlers in America and people in Europe to continue using slaves.
