I do not believe we should "Pay Attention" to our Culture or Traditions. They should be LIVED!

I understand a lot of points being made in this debate. Ranging from: The "What if's" to the "Yes's" and "No's".

Protecting and Paying Attention to MY Culture and Traditions are no where as valuable to me as LIVING them.

To me this is a big topic, and yet it is only a small part of a BIG problem we all face today. To make my point and keep it short is... problematic.

I am what Western Society calls: "Aboriginal" or "Native" or "Indian". I come from what they call "Canada". I am a young St' at Mic Man, the People of the Land. We believe in Balance of three things: The People, The Land, and The Culture or Language.

I was raised in the cities, there I was told being Different was bad. So that's how I was treated for being a different color and having long hair. I was told we needed money to survive and to find happiness; and that we all needed "Education". That destruction of the Land was normal, that is was a good thing an... okay or necessary thing.

Then I began living with my people. On our Land. With those who knew the our Language. As a People we never built Great Things: Towers, Pyramids, Castles, Cities, or Walls. We lived together with the Land. We had a Relationship with it. With ourselves. We all knew who we were, where we were from. The land and the Life on it was all Sacred and still is.

That is why living the way we did and how some still do is WORTH it. It is why "being different" is rarely a bad thing.

I challenge you all to see. When you think of Cancer what comes to mind? How it acts? Then look around you. See what the cites do. What it takes for them to do what they do or what YOU do.
