This might be true, however interest groups are only beneficial to society if the opinion is beneficial to the US. Since they can make a lot of change, if it is a negative opinion that a lot of people agree with, it can be detrimental.
-Mr. Bray Shakur
A key point in your argument is "personal experiences." Personal experiences often do not reflect the majority of people because in fact they are "personal." If the group's personal experience was negative to that particular group but not the majority of people, it can in fact be detrimental.
-Mr. Bray-Shakur
Interest groups might get an opinion across, but it is usually what their group wants. If their group is detrimental, then they are going to be pushing a negative opinion. And even within the interest group, the group might not go with what the majority of the group feels.
-Mr. Bray
Interest groups can be detrimental because it can take power away from the government. The government is full of elected officials that are chosen so they can make special decisions that benefit the people. Interest groups take away from that because they are groups of people who try to change things based on their own personal wants and needs. Interest groups typically do not think of the entire government because they typically care about themselves. At least democrats and republicans have to compromise sometimes to get votes, interest groups can do what they want without other people in mind.
