I am definitely against child labour, especially in the case of apparel for little ones. I think it is quite hypocrite to let your own children (for example) wear the best clothes, of the best brands, but made by children of the same age in poor circumstances. I think there are many other ways to keep children in third world countries. However, I know it is too easy to say that child labour needs to be forbidden at all. Of course it is better to have child labour than prostitution. Though, in 2014, I think we, the consumers in West-European countries are smart enough to know that it is not right to have a child working for your hundreds of clothes you buy and throw away every year again. If we, the consumers are not buying these kind of clothes anymore, and with a little help from organizations and governments, we can stop the child labour a little AND let them go to school; they can be child again.
I am probably a good person but I haven't taken the time to fill out my profile, so you'll never know! |
