The League of Nations (LON) should be held most accountable for WW2's start. The LON was weak therefore, it failed at several factors such as disarmament,Abyssinian Crisis and the re-militarization of the Rhineland. Its weakness also paved the way for Hitler to aggressively pursue his expansionist policy.
The failure of disarmament meant that powerful countries still had the military capacity for war and there was nothing to stop them from engaging in conflicts. This meant that the LON was the main cause as they failed to achieve world disarmament.
The League's failure to intervene in the Abyssinian Crisis in 1935 served as a prime example of its ineffectiveness in maintaining world peace and resolving conflicts. this incident would later convince Hitler that the league would not be able to stand in the way of its ambitious plans for his expansion. Therefore the LON should be held most accountable for WW2's start.
The re-militarization of the Rhineland allowed Hitler to test the response from Britain and France. Given that the two nations did not stop Germany from breaking the Treaty of Versailles , it emboldened Hitler and made him want to expand Germany's territory further. Hence, the LON should be held most accountable for WW2'SS START.
