Today Facebook privacy debate in the United States is hot. Until last month, Facebook is growing scared to go out than any other web sites. People said "The Age of Facebook" is coming and "I access facebook every hour", these rosy talk dominated public opinion but suddenly changed. They provide too much personal information and privacy has become dominant.
When I often connect to Facebook, sometimes I surprised, because facebook recommend to add "friend" those who just met one time. I don't know how facebook knew and recommended as 'friend'. Truly weird and amazing. That is why people who already joined in facebook said after starting facebook, you can find a lot of friends who was forgotten from my memory.
Another surprising thing is that reveal too much personal information. During access facebook, I can see anyone's personal information like his birthday, his high school, his work place... by one click everything pop up.
These days, Facebook's growth is incredible. They had surged Google from weekly traffic. The user is over the 400 million people. Some people said close to 500 million people. This is not about just the person who only created the account. Accessed once a month, 'active users' are this number. It will be more if count only account.
What if some people use these massive personal information in bad purpose? What if some people instigate public opinions into bad ways? According to facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg's interview "Gone are the days of privacy" But all of facebook users do not think that agree.
At first facebook didn't decide on giving information to users. But they changed. Unless user changes privacy setting to be block, facebook open personal information to the public.
Now Facebook is put in a defensive corner. More than 15 consumer groups sue Facebook as their privacy policy has problems. What will be the best way and what facebook gonna do to solve this problem.
