Which means the South rejected him, and the South was voting Democrat at least as late as 1964. Strom Thurmond was also out of the Republican Party before Robert Byrd was out of the Democratic Party.
Secondly, in 1964, almost the entire South voted Democrat in the Presidential election which completely contradicts your assertion.
Thirdly, Robert Byrd, who never switched parties, was a Democrat from 1953 to 2010 (57 years), was a Grand Wizard in the KKK, and is one of longest residing members of Congress in history. He has also been defended and praised by many Democrats of today including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Bill Clinton. He was also from a Northern state.
The Democrats created Jim Crow Laws. Jim Crow laws were in place until 1965. None of my older acuaintences remember any party switch, nor did they party switch or know anyone who party switched.

Because for starters, you didn't show examples to counter in the first place, and second, if it happened 80 years ago, no one that is alive today has done it, and even 100 year old people would be too young to have done it, meaning you are pointing your finger at millions of people for things they never did. If that's the standard, you are responsible for blacks selling blacks to whites in the first place.
Third, if it happened over 40 years ago, most Republicans aren't old enough to be responsible for it because they would have to be at minimum in their 80s to have been of the age of people making policy.
