I think the main difference from what I can see in your debate is that they're spelled differently. That was easy! I'm surprised you couldn't have figured that out yourself. :-)

Are you sure that's the main difference? It seems like the fact that the UK includes Northern Ireland is a bigger difference.

Yes, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Are you trying to pick a fight with me or something?

The spelling thing is more readily apparent and what more American's (the only country that matters, by the by) would care about. (Not that American's care about spelling, evidently.)

Shouldn't you be explaining this to us? You are from there.

I think UK = GB + Northern Ireland. But just like most of you Americans can't find your own country on a map of itself, some of us Brits don't have the best grasp of geography.

I guess I can't hold that against you. That would be like Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Virgin Islands. It is hard to keep track of everything.

Great Britain is the name of the island that consists of Wales, Scotland and England, the United kingdom includes Northern Ireland

Thanks. So, it is possible for someone in the UK to be British, right?

O cool I learned something today, I didn't know the difference until now : )

The British isles is an archipelago in Europe, north of France.

Great Britain is the largestisland in the British Isles.

United Kingdom is one of the Sovereign States in the British Isles.

There are also countries inside the UK: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

There are also crown dependances, which are owned by the UK, are in the British Isles, but aren't in any of the said countries.

There are also Overseas Territories, which are owned by the UK, but aren't in the British Isles.

There is also the Commonwealth, which are former colonies of the British Empire. Sometimes they meet up to paly sport.
