AZTEC, INCA, MAYA: The Great American Civilizations

Phew that's tough. The Mayans were advanced and created a writing system but the Aztecs created the calendar system which we still use today. Both possessed architectural skills that modern scientists still ponder over how it was achieved. While American Indians didn't have advanced engineering, they were among the first to develop agriculture, practice propagation, and selective breeding of corn. The Olmec civilization were the first, that we know of, to make chocolate, so....I mean that's pretty awesome. I love how ingenious waru waru's are but I believe the developers of that particular farming system are Pre-Inca, I can't recall which civilization used them. Honestly this is tough. I think I'd have to end up arguing that the Inca was the greatest. Their stonework and cities are a testament to their time, they practiced terrace farming, irrigation, and they are thought to have practiced brain surgery. |
