Attacking someone is not a good way of getting what you want.

Attacking someone is not a good way to get what you want. Not only will it piss the other person off, but it will make that person attack you back. So just do not do it.

Attacking back I hear people say. Get your semantics right, that is called defending oneself. Attacking means that you are the first to strike, which I think is the wrong way to go about things most of the time.

Depending on what it is you want, it can be an efficient way, but it's not a good way.

Side: I agree.

Attacking is puerile. Attacking someone on the Internet is unwarranted.

Ok. My counter-question would be, if someone attacks you, is the proper course of action to attack them back?

Actually that depends. If a child is attacking you, is the proper course of aciton is to attack them back? In society, that would be a "no."

I don't think attacking back is a proper course of action. I say if your life was on the line, self defense is a proper course of action. However, if you can step back and leave the situation, that is a proper course of action...in my opinion.

upvote.

The "child is attacking you" is a great analogy in my opinion, because it relates to any situation where when a unquestionably weaker party attacks an overwhelmingly more powerful one. Understanding that it's unnecessary ,shameful, and I would say wrong, to attack when there are methods of defending one's self from injury that don't require it.

However I disagree with you if you think that "stepping back" and "leaving the situation" any time you can is a proper course of action.

The Bible tells me to turn the other cheek and it also says that there is a time to fight. Of course in our mind we want to attack the person back but we have to attack them back showing some merciful in my opinion war is a whole different story.

Does the bible not also say to show mercy to thy enemy as the wicked shall see the wrath of God AT THE HANDS OF GOD. And that judgement should be saved for the almighty?

I don't know all that much about Christianity, so that's my uniformed take from your perspective.

Meh! I don't usually attacked unless someone attacks me first! Then, it's on! LOL

Are you this offended?

I disagree, someone attacks to get what they want all the time, or at least try to, and eventually someone gets what they want too.

Look at wars, abusive relationships and this. I'm getting you all riled up, which is exactly what I wanted. You're weak, and fun to pass time with.

If you didn't care you wouldn't reply.

And I didn't think you were talking about me. I just felt like putting my two cents in hon.

Side: I disagree.

Attacking and defending?? Well I prefer Strategical placement. Putting everything where you want so that person is supporting you or even defending you. Its very possible to any person but...... they are probably to busy fighting :) Either way everything is wrong to someone...

Everyone attacks to get what they want: whether the attacks are verbal or physical doesn't matter. Sure, it would be nice if we could get things through peaceful debate and diplomatic relations, etc. but that's just wishful thinking at best. Most of the time if you want something you have to take active steps to gain it yourself. Wars were fought to ensure our freedom, assassinations carried out to protect others, verbal slandering given to win political clout...
