Day 4 - Statistics on the Practice of Banning
A simple study. At 10:30AM on 5/10/16 I
clicked on each of the front dashboard debates (15 total, 5 each under Popular,
Active, and New) and checked who owned the debate and whether there were bans.
Results will be in my first comment and then it's open for discussion in
terms of fair or abusive.
Raw data for 10:30AM EST, May 10, 2016, based on the dashboard listing of the 5 top debates under Popular, Active, and New. Popular: Grenache - 0 bans NathanAllen - 0 bans MaStermcman - 0 bans xUaq - 0 bans MaStermcman - 0 bans Active: tyronjamison - 0 bans Fantasia - 0 bans TroyB - 0 bans FromWithin - 1 ban (Grenache pre-banned) KayneOfNod - 2 bans (himself, and LandyLinkstar) New: MsRitter23 - no responses Abbasdx - no responses Abbasdx - no responses Amer199 - no responses Abbasdx - no responses Analysis - The leading banner KayneOfNod mocked the process of banning both with a debate title saying you will be band and then with banning both himself and fellow teaser LadyLinkstar. So although that lead the bans it is not a reflection of poor behavior requiring banning. The only ban which might have been considered malicious would be FromWithin's pre-ban of myself but that's based on past discussions instead of present. So realistically there were no bans in this survey round by debate owners freshly angered by debate participants. Side Note - Congratulations to Saintnow for not making the list for the first time ever, mainly because zero of his debates are in the top 15 dashboard right now. 1
