Socialism is an economic system characterized by social ownership or control of the means of production and cooperative management of the economy,[1] and a political philosophy advocating such a system. Basically, everyone makes the same wage, no matter the occupation. Is this really fair and the best economic system?

No, it creates no incentive due to the lack of self interest.

Socialism doesn't work because it gives no incentives to those who want to improve their condition. Eventually, everyone wants a free ride because you get nothing more for working harder than anyone else.

In theory nearly any system would work. Human nature it seems still makes socialism not possible though.

Perhaps someday if we had robots to do everything essential and menial this would be the best system to encourage advancement with invention and interest as the key motivators instead of greed. But humans are not there yet, nor close to there really.

Side: No

It works about just as well as any other economic/political theory that's being put to use today. As in is doesn't work properly at all yet.
