There's always a lot of labelling and hysteria on Liberal/Conservative as well as 2nd Amendment topics so let me clarify where I'm coming from.

I'm an independent moderate. I have a Massachusetts Class A Large Capacity Licence to Carry Firearms in my pocket. Massachusetts has the 2nd strictest handgun laws in the country and I had to jump through some hoops to get it. Yet I don't own or carry because I met my wife during the licensing wait and she is dead set against having guns in a house with kids, and I honor that. Anyway, I tell you all of this because a) I'm not a liberal, despite the smears attempted on this site, b) I'm also not a Democrat, and c) I'm not anti-2nd Amendment (though I don't agree with kicking out any and all public safety efforts around guns).

Anyway, should US Liberals arm up?

On the one hand, it's their constitutional right to do it. And it's not that they aren't without just cause for concern.

But on the other hand, you can't campaign endlessly against a right and then turn around and embrace it. That's like opposing abortion forever and then having one.

And in reality, if they believe the overabundance of guns is behind crime then acquiring and storing or carrying even more of them logically is then contributing to the potential for crime.

Though I understand.

And listen, hey, you conservatives - don't take lightly that a wave of liberals is now out there trying to arm themselves. You can't throw gasoline on a fire over and over again and then be surprised there are some who want to burn you right back. Indeed how long do we think it will be until someone (other than Muslim) from a marginalized societal group is going to go shoot up a place notoriously conservative?

Anyway, arming up is their right just the same as it's yours. But for the reasons above they really should not be doing it.
