We have about 400 billion trees on our planet. 4 of them are being cut down each year, and only 3,4 new trees are plantet each year.

That means we plant less trees than we cut down. We plant 0,6 billion less trees than we cut down, that is a lot.

This might seem like a small number compared to the 400 billion, but the use of trees, wood and paper is growing each year.

We use wood to build houses and several other practical stuff, we use tons and tons of paper and on top of that we cut a little under a 100 million christmas trees down each year.

Those who have studied biology of any degree know that we use oxygen and trees and other plants use CO2 - Plants exhale oxygen and we exhale CO2, thus are we providing each other with the necessary stuff to breathe, see?   - Trees are a much much better and greater source for oxygen, than small plants like flowers and stuff. Cut them all down and .. we have a problem.

Take a look at your house. How much is made out of wood? Maybe your entire house is wood, maybe your chairs are wood your dining table, you lamp. Maybe your wallpaper is even made out of trees.

The use of paper is growing and growing with each year, and since we're planting 600 million less trees than we cut down, before we know the 400 billion trees are going to be gone.

The Christmas tree became popular in 1940-50's - since then we have cut down 2310000000 christmas trees. I don't even know how to say that number.

I'm chocked that we use our primary source for oxygen to easily replaces stuff like paper, wood and a stupid thing like a christmas tree.
