Who is the greatest evil of all corporations?

With all the disdain from liberals on how evil corporations are, and that they are only there to exploit the peasants, WHO IS GREATEST EVIL OF ALL CORPORATIONS?

Add New Argument

If it wasn't for the BP and their irresponsible behavior and total disrespect for the environment, the United States government would top the list as the worst because it is nothing more than a corporation pretending to be a republic

I agree that BP is a terrible and unethical company. But what companies aren't these days?

Forgive me for being hyperbolic, but I am so often frustrated by the lack of trustworthiness in the corporate world.

From banking to pharmaceuticals to food to chemicals to BP, there doesn't seem to be much solid ground left.

And what annoys me most is that the only way to change this is by exercising our rights as consumers. Collectively, we can demand better, but we don't, because it's not convenient, or cheap, or simple.

I'm sorry for going off on a rant here, but whenever I hear people criticize a corporation for a lack of ethics it makes me angry because the corporation being singled out is FAR from alone.

BP is just one in a long list of terrible companies who prioritize profits over people. That's capitalism for ya.

The US government's big issue isn't that it is a corporation in disguise, but rather that it allows corporations free reign. And yet I see so much talk about a need for more free markets and deregulation. That is what has gotten us into this mess. It certainly won't get us out.

Yes, if the government would better regulate corporations and make it so stupid companies like BP straighten up, things would be in a lot better shape.

Skynet

• In the Terminator series, Skynet is the primary antagonist — an artificially intelligent system which became self-aware and revolted against its creators. Skynet is rarely seen onscreen and its actions are often performed via other robots and computer systems.

and the Umbrella Corporation

• The Umbrella Corporation is a bioengineering pharmaceutical company in the Resident Evil universe. It is a major international player in a number of markets including pharmaceuticals, medical hardware, defense, and computers along with more clandestine operations utilizing genetic engineering and accused viral weaponry. The company also has a more public face, producing cosmetics, consumer products and foods.

I agree, companies are far worse.

They can be extremely wealthy, and thus powerful.

Skynet was the result of the Cyberdyne Systems.

While the corporation is said to be benign in the first two films, manufacturing parts for bigger companies, they then make the mistake of creating Skynet, a system of artificially intelligent supercomputers that control (among other things) nuclear missiles. This was not a smart move. In fact, it's just unintelligent enough to warrant Cyberdyne's inclusion on this list.

This is a really tough one. From Tyson to BP to Pfizer to Monsanto to Coca Cola to Wal-Mart, almost every big corporation is unethical.

But the biggest evil associated with evil corporations as I see it is us. While normally in our day-to-day lives we consider ourselves to be moral beings, we don't shop that way. When it comes to consumption, we are consumers motivated by convenience and price and cannot be bothered with ethical concerns.

The very fact that the structure of corporate dominance has led us astray of being responsible consumers is, in my opinion, the greatest evil of corporations.

Side: Ourselves

Tyrell Corporation (Blade Runner)

The Tyrell Corporation produces the replicants, lifelike androids designed to the work deemed to dangerous and demeaning for humans, and is named for Dr. Eldon Tyrell, the founder and genius inventor of the replicants.

Weyland-Yutani (Alien franchise)

Perhaps the gold standard of evil mega-corporations, Weyland-Yutani's main gig is merciless profiteering, no matter what (or who) needs to be sacrificed in the process.

Side: Weyland-Yutani

When corporations come in, the human element goes out.
