National Service should be mandatory for all male Singaporeans as they help to train male Singaporeans to be both physically and mentally fit. Though National Service is hard, those that finished the 2 years of National Service come out being both physically and mentally strong. Singapore has a small population size, unlike other countries. If we do not make National Service to be compulsory for all male Singaporeans, we would not have enough men to protect Singapore. Though some might say that we do not have much chance to win if other countries decided to go to war with us, we would still be able to at least resist and have some chance of winning. As for the photo with the NS man having a maid to carry his bag, this shows us that more and more male Singaporeans are becoming "as fragile as strawberries". (Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong described young Singaporeans as"fragile like strawberries" on the Singapore Scout Association's 100th anniversary dinner . Said SM Goh 'Fortunately, we have our National Service. Otherwise, we too may have a "strawberries" generation.' adapted from http://theonlinecitizen.com/2010/04/
This tells us that more and more Singaporeans prefer to stay in front of the computer instead of going out. That's why National Service should be mandatory for these male Singaporeans so that they would be physically and mentally strong instead of being as fragile as strawberries like that NS man we saw in the picture which needs his maid to carry his bag.
I am probably a good person but I haven't taken the time to fill out my profile, so you'll never know! |
