Yes I think it should be mandatory. The introduction of National Service is good for our young country, because it helps us to increase our defense power. To the individual, it will enhance their leadership skills, their independence, their perseverance, and confidence level to handle future challenges. Our country has limited resources, thus the government has to introduce this policy and let the young to understand the development of Singapore, allowing them to be physically and mentally stronger. The environment in NS will be like a new experience for them, compared to life in school or at home. It will allow them to have team spirit, to bond among buddies, teammates, to stay with people of a different race and religion, to understand them more. With that, they will also understand the disciplines in life. It will make a positive change in their learning attitude and values in life, to let them appreciate what our country has now, what we can access to and to see their value to the country. Lastly, the National Service can also excel their hidden potential.
